This has been the week from hell in the Sportsdrenched Household. I am just now sitting down to look at how I did on last weeks Frivolous Picks, and I haven’t even looked at games to pick for this week. Last week I went 5-5, which means I broke even. I’m not going to lay it out. Go back and look if you don’t believe me. The time off for Thanksgiving cannot get here fast enough.
I have been taking a hiatus from sports radio this week so I’m not as up to date on the sporting world as usual. I did notice Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel was arrested for a DWI last night. I find this sad and amusing. I think the guy made a mistake like we all make mistakes. However, Pinkel is a leader of young men in a manly profession. He has to be better than that. I don’t think he should be fired, but I think he should have to serve more than a one game suspension. Which would end his season.
It was also announced today that the Houston Astros have been sold, and and will be moving to the American League in 2013. Of more concern to me is MLB and the MLBPA announced this evening they have a new labor deal. I think both of these topics deserve their own post. So I’ll be working on that for this weekend.
Right now I’m watching the NY Jets and Broncos on the NFL Network. I’ve gone back and fourth on whether I like Thursday games in the NFL. It varies from season to season. This season I have been busy on Sunday afternoon and have not been watching a lot of NFL football. (College Football is an entirely different story) I’m welcoming the games on Thursday…for now. Although the game I’m watching now is not the best display of primetime football. The score is 3-3 at halftime.
Thursday is also the day Sports Illustrated arrives in my mailbox. It’s not a huge deal. But it’s a reason to look forward to Thursday…or Friday Eve as we call it in my office. But It’s almost Friday.
