Sportsdrenched Weekend Round-Up: 11/1/11

Yes I know it’s Tuesday. But I’ve been busy with Halloween stuff with the family. Besides, with the Chiefs being on Monday Night Football it seems like the weekend ended yesterday. Here are a few stories in the sports world that I feel you should be aware of.

Only 2 Days till Friday Eve!

Chiefs 23, Chargers 20: This was a wild game, I’m hesitant to call it a good game. If you haven’t noticed the Chiefs are in a three-way tie for first in the AFC West. This is amazing considering how horribly they started the season. After Week 2 I was wondering if they would win a game. They’ve won four straight since the Week 3 loss at San Diego. However, don’t be fooled into thinking this is a good team. I mean I want the Chiefs to be a good team, but there are just too many problems; starting with the coaching staff for me to think they’ll do anything but go to the playoffs if they go at all. But, as I fan I’ll enjoy the ride.

Cardinals Win The World Series / Baseball Season is Over: I guess because I grew up in Wichita I don’t get the Royals fan animosity for the St Louis Cardinals. Yes, there is a local media member who makes it difficult to root for the Cardinals, but nothing that would warrant the outright hostility I saw in Twitter Friday night. Way I look at it. You should like your own team more than you hate another team. I guess I’m just not a hater. Anyway, Congrats on the Title Cardinals and Cardinals fans.

What I’m more upset about is baseball season being over. Never fear though: I wrote an Offseason Survival Guide.

Finally…

Kevin Durant Plays Flag Football: I caught this story about Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant heading out to Oklahoma State on Monday evening to play flag football with a bunch of college kids. I won’t pretend to follow the NBA. But it’s stories like these that might make me pay attention if they ever get their labor trouble settled.

That’s all for now. It’s kind of nice having the week 2/5th over, and just now realizing it’s not the weekend anymore.

and a quick post script: As I was typing this Royals Outfielder Alex Gordon won a Gold Glove for the 2011 Season. I’ll have to get to that later this week.

I’m a Cards fan in KC, and I got so much junk from Royalsfans during their playoffrun. Why that is I’ll neverknow (inferiority complex?)
